Fair Mill and Elevator Co. records 1919-1920, 1926-27

The Collection consists of the business papers of the Fair Mill and Elevator Co. and Watkins National Bank, arranged chronologically. There are legal documents concerning the suit between the Kramer-Fair Milling Co. and the Watkins National Bank, with the rest of the material being the day-to-day paperwork between T.C. Green and J.R. Fair involved in running the mill. The other files contain daily elevator reports, invoices, journal notes, notices of shipment, time vouchers, warehouse records, cancelled checks, a ledger, a journal and four blank Certificate of Stocks volumes.

The Fair Mill & Elevator Co. was located in Tonganoxie, Kansas. Originally the Kramer-Fair Milling Co., they borrowed money from the Watkins National Bank which they were subsequently unable to pay back. In 1919-1920, the Kramer-Fair Mill brought suit against the Watkins National Bank which they lost and the Watkins National Bank took over the mill.
